I’m glad you’ve found our website! And it’s my hope that this will be the first step in this chapter of your life’s journey–the chapter entitled, “Blessed to Find a Church Home!” I say this because I am totally convinced that you will be blessed as you get involved with Spanish Springs Presbyterian Church. We are a healthy mixture of cultures, ethnicities, and political preferences–and we heartily welcome ANYONE who wishes to worship our Creator. So, if you’re a little bit doubtful about your “acceptability” in a church, get on over here! You’ll be warmly welcomed, and you’ll hear a sermon that is Biblically informed, you’ll have opportunities for involvement, and you’ll be a blessing to the rest of us. Imagine that!

“Many hands make quick work”. Join a church Ministry Team and help lighten the load this year. There is a Ministry Team to fit every personality. Find your niche:
Clerk of Session – Elaine Noble
Keeps the minutes of the session meetings and maintains church records. The Session Clerk is the hub of communications between the higher governing bodies like Presbytery and General Assembly and consults with the moderators for meeting planning. Essentially the Session Clerk functions as the churches corporate memory.
Outreach– Current Moderator: Ellie Duncan
We are the hospitality side of the church geared towards community outreach. We evangelize through relationships. This is where we coordinate activities outside of the church to increase awareness of our congregation.
Christian Education – Current Moderator: Jack Isaacs
We provide Christian education classes for children, youth, and adults in the church. We recruit teachers, select curriculum and provide opportunities for extended learning for all in the church.
Stewardship – Current Moderator: Dean Bognar
We organize and conduct the pledge drives to forward the maintenance and growth of the church.
Mission – Current Moderator: Peggy Hall
We handle the special projects that crop up during the year, such as “Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful”, ongoing food collections for St Paul’s Episcopal Church, as well as clothing and toiletry drives for Good Shepherds clothes closet. We also collect school supplies and angel tree gift cards for Sparks Middle School. We organized a therapeutic weekend after the Sparks Middle School shooting to help those affected by the tragedy to begin a path towards healing. We are also starting a pilot police activities league soccer program for four Title 1 Washoe County schools.
Worship – Current Moderator: Allan Smith
We create a common space to glorify God, by ensuring a meaningful worship experience. Whether it’s selecting music, or supporting the Pastor, we are ready to help.
Fellowship – Current Moderator: Joyce Whiteford
We coordinate social activities for the congregation such as potlucks, picnics, ballgames, fieldtrips, and fundraisers. We host film series to bring awareness to local and global issues and sometimes to just have fun!
Facility– Current Moderator: Ron Marsh
If it’s broke we fix it!
Administration/Personnel – Current Moderator: Curtis Hemphill
We are responsible for the financial development of the budget and the overall operation of the administration facility, the office and its equipment.
