A Weekend of Joyful Reflection
This past weekend (November 4th & 5th, 2023) was a remarkable moment for our church family as we celebrated the 10th anniversary of worshiping at our current location at 4884 Sparks Blvd. The celebrations were a true testament to our journey from a nomadic beginning to a decade of growth and fellowship in a place we now call home.
Open House Event
The festivities kicked off on Saturday, November 4th, with an open house event from 1-3 p.m. that saw a wonderful turnout from both members and visitors. Founding Pastor Bruce Taylor, immediate past pastor Pat Mecham, and Joy Hutchison, wife of former Interim Pastor “Hutch” Hutchison, blessed us with their presence, sharing in the joy and reflecting on our shared history.
Players from the Boca Brass performed a selection of songs, while guests took a walk down memory lane with photographs showcasing various events from the past ten years.
A worship service celebrating God’s Goodness to SPPC
On Sunday, November 5, we gathered for worship. We were blessed by a sermon by Bruce Taylor. Pastor Tom took on the roles of liturgist and leader for the Children’s Time, and Reverends Sue Taylor and Kate Freeman led us in the celebration of the Lord’s Supper.
A Feast of Gratitude
Following the worship service, we continued the festivities with a celebratory feast and cake in the Fellowship Room. We are grateful for all those who contributed to our “Mortgage Pay Down Fund” – a ‘birthday present’ and fitting gesture for such a milestone.
Sharing memories & Looking forward to the future
The entire weekend was a beautiful time sharing memories of our journey, celebrating our present community, and looking forward to the future we will build together. Thank you to everyone who participated and made this anniversary one to remember. Here’s to many more years of worship and service in our beloved church home!
