Welcome Reverend Jeff Rumble
On Sunday, July 14th, the SSPC congregation unanimously elected the Reverend Jeff Rumble to be our new, installed pastor. “Pastor Jeff” will officially begin his journey with us on Sunday, November 3rd. Let me share a little bit about our new pastor. Jeff was born in Southern California. He was baptized in a Presbyterian church, attended Sunday School, went to church camps, and participated in youth groups. His parents often took the family camping and encouraged his love of nature.…
10th Anniversary Celebration
A Weekend of Joyful Reflection This past weekend (November 4th & 5th, 2023) was a remarkable moment for our church family as we celebrated the 10th anniversary of worshiping at our current location at 4884 Sparks Blvd. The celebrations were a true testament to our journey from a nomadic beginning to a decade of growth and fellowship in a place we now call home. Open House Event The festivities kicked off on Saturday, November 4th, with an open house event…

I have met a lot of people and gotten a good sense of the health of the congregation. I feel more connected that I would expect after such a short time. Kudos to the Session and Deacons for giving thoughtful attention to bringing me on board. November 27 was the first day of…
The First Nowell
IT’S THAT TIME OF YEAR WHEN PEOPLE ARE weighing in on their least favorite Christmas songs. “The Little Drummer Boy” is often at the top of the list. How many “rum pa pum pum’s” does a person need to hear in December? Or a lifetime? “Feliz Navidad” also makes many people’s lists. In the true spirit of unity, this song manages to be irritating in two languages. At First Presbyterian Church, we have a tradition with Christmas hymns. We always sing…
Quilt Ministry
Calling All Quilters, Knitters and Crocheters! The SSPC Deacons would like to continue the tradition of distributing quilts, lap blankets, shoulder shawls to those in need. In order to be able to continue with this tradition, new quilts or crocheted or knitted lap blankets & shoulder shawls need to be made. This will be an on-going project throughout the year. At the end of the year, any quilts/lap blankets/shawls, that have been made, will be distributed to those in the…
